O restaurante JAN recebeu o nome do seu fundador, Jan Zegers. Jan, natural de Nijmegen (Holanda), mudou-se para Carvoeiro em 1981. Muito activo na contribuição para o desenvolvimento da vila de Carvoeiro, especialmente no largo da Praia (com restaurantes e música ao vivo). Daí o apelido o Senhor do Largo.
O restaurante JAN abriu em 2011, com a sua neta como o rosto do restaurante. Jan faleceu repentinamente em Março de 2019. Um ano depois, “nós o trazemos de volta ao seu restaurante”. Jan fica no Largo da Praia do Carvoeiro. Para sempre.
Some history
Restaurant JAN is named after its founder Jan Zegers. Jan, originally from Nijmegen (Netherlands), moved to Carvoeiro in 1981. He actively contributed to the development of the village Carvoeiro, especially to the square (with restaurants and the yearly live music on the square). Hence his nickname: Mr Carvoeiro Square.
Restaurant Jan opened its doors in 2011, with his granddaughter as the face of his restaurant. Jan suddenly passed away in March 2019. 1 year later, ‘we bring him back to his restaurant’. Jan is at Carvoeiro square. Forever.
