Restaurant JAN is named after its founder Jan Zegers. Jan, originally from Nijmegen (Netherlands), moved to Carvoeiro in 1981.
He actively contributed to the development of the village Carvoeiro.
Especially to the square
(with restaurants and the yearly live music on the square).
Hence his nickname: Mr Carvoeiro Square.
Restaurant Jan opened its doors in 2011, Jan suddenly passed away in March 2019. Jan is at Carvoeiro square. Forever.
